On this "Seventh Day (Sunday)" as we keyboard this missive, the much-repudiated CD-1 May Runoff Challenger against Incumbent City Councilman Gil Cedillo, has not cried NO MAS, despite a Team Cedillo Onslaught, which exposed his past Controversial Cyber Commentary ........... and prompted a soul-wrenching, "Act of Bearing Self Witness"  to past personal transgressions in a effort to show GENUINE contrition for his outed failings of character.

Yet while ramifications of Candidate Bray-Ali's Controversial Past Cyber Commentaries (mixed with his personal confessions), has adversely affected his Campaign, one under-reported CAUSE and EFFECT of the Bray-Ali Campaign Implosion, is the exposure of apparent DISUNITY among the LA City Council ............, and a losing, "Grip on Power" by its presiding leader Herb Wesson.

There was once a time when the MERE ACT of not attending a meeting where the diminutive former State Assembly Speaker became the "Mini Amin Dictator of the City Clowncil Central Committee", was cause for revocation of Committee Chair Assignments (think Jan Perry and Bernard Parks).

That stated, it should been a GIVEN that the City Council President would of had unanimous support from fellow Central Committee Comrades for his Statement that requested Joe Bray-Ali withdraw from the May Runoff Election, but five members, Paul Koretz, Bob Blumefield, David Ryu, Curren Price .........., and JOSE HUIZAR did not sign on to the Statement.

We should note that CD-13 City Councilman Mitch O'Farell, who had earlier taken the rare occasion to ENDORSE the challenger Candidate Bray-Ali against Incumbent Colleague Cedillo, pulled back his support, leaving the five listed above to face scrutiny for their respective silence. 

But of further interest to discerning political observers, should be how Council President Wesson chooses to deal with those among his colleagues who declined to support the Statement directed at Candidate Bray-Ali ..........., especially his supposed CD-14 "Political Soul Brother".

As Candidate Bray-Ali continue to defies the likes of Council President Wesson's Statement to Withdraw, Wesson himself will come under further scrutiny if he DOES NOT condemn those who have remain SILENT in repudiating the past comments of Cedillo's Challenger ............., especially Jose Huizar and reduce his "Statement of Withdraw/Repudiation" to a hypocritical "Act of Political Posturing"-----Scott Johnson.

The FALLOUT from the disclosure of Bray-Ali's Cyber Ramblings has resulted in CD-13 City Councilman Mitch O'Farrell and the influential East Side Progressive Democrats, pulling their respective Endorsements of the now "Challenger in Peril".

It appears that one Joe Bray-Ali, who's running against legendary Chicano politician (and current Los Angeles City Council District 1 representative Gil Cedillo), has apologized because he submitted a question to my YouTube ¡Ask a Mexican! in 2008. Then, he asked why Mexicans like to use car horns as doorbells. Bray-Ali's problem, at the time, was that they woke up his baby daughter, which he used as a prop in the video to score cheap sympathy points with me (it didn't work). Roll the tape (posted above)! Man, I miss that flowery shirt..

Cedillo's team—caught by surprise that they couldn't get Gil a win in the primary, and who now must actually work to ensure he wins the upcoming runoff—sent a version (an edited 13 seconds copy according to the LA Times Dakota Smith) of the video to reporters after a supporter yelled at Bray-Ali "Go back to India!" during a debate earlier this week. “Joe apologizes,” a Bray-Ali spokesperson told Times reporter Dakota Smith. “He says the comment was stupid and it’s amazing how social media can remind of the mistakes of youth. This was nine years ago.”

On Facebook, Cedillo's supporters (including the likes of USC's David Galaviz Martha Escutia and other assorted Race-mongers) are trying to use Bray-Ali's question as proof he's racist, ridiculing his spokesperson's assertion to the Times that George Lopez has made jokes about Mexicans as car horns. Bray-Ali, for his part, told one of my pals on Facebook that the reason he did the video way back when was because he's a fan of mine, but "Sucks I had an urge to make a video like this."

Fuck Cedillo's supporters for not allowing Bray-Ali to ask a legitimate question about Mexicans to a column set up for that. Fuck any Cedillo supporters who think the very act of engaging with ¡Ask a Mexican! is racist—Gil sure didn't think so when he was a member of the Latino Legislative Caucus in 2008 when they awarded me with a Latino Spirit Award for what they said was my "exceptional vision, creativity, and work ethic."

Although the evening focused on housing issues, a jarring moment brought a loud crowd reaction when a member of the audience shouted at Bray-Ali to "go back to India.".

Its no secret that the audiences at CD 1 Candidate Forums/Debates have been UBER exuberant in expressing their support for the candidate of choice, but in recent weeks since the March Election, the racially-tinged attacks against Challenger Bray-Ali have become more pronounced.

Third, former LA Weekly Political Writer Patrick Range McDonald EXPOSED Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti and the City Council (including "Broken Deal Cedillo") for REDIRECTING FUNDS from Measure HHH which was to EXCLUSIVELY FUND Homeless Housing.

But only weeks after Measure HHH was approved on November 8, the betrayal of the homeless — and LA voters — was well underway at the hands of Garcetti, the City Council (including "Broken Deal Cedillo"), and the City Administrative Officer. In December 2016, the City Council approved the final details of the AHOS program, which was organized by the City Administrative Officer with much input from the City Council and mayor. It had turned into something startlingly different from what City Hall politicians had been promising — and what the LA Times had been describing. The City Administrative Officer recommended, and the City Council approved, an AHOS program that now offered “affordable multifamily housing,” “mixed-income housing,” “affordable homeownership,” “innovative methods of housing,” and, finally, “permanent supportive housing” for the homeless.

City officials are currently sorting through the proposals for projects that will make up the AHOS program. With complete certainty, permanent supportive housing will not be built at every city-owned property — five sites in Lincoln Heights, which is represented by Councilman Gil Cedillo, have already been designated for “mixed-income” housing. As a result, the city’s use of Measure HHH money for the AHOS program will not go entirely to homeless housing, and homeless men, women, and children will not receive the full amount of housing and services that Mayor Eric Garcetti and the City Council had promised. Instead, an affluent professional, the only person who can afford market-rate housing in L.A., may land a nice pad on city-owned property in increasingly gentrified Lincoln Heights or near the beach on the Westside. It’s the very definition of a scandal.

With the May Runoff Elections four weeks away tomorrow, the assorted cast of Political Scoundrels (think Nativo Lopez, Mario Beltran, Jhonny P. of H.P. Victory Outreach among others) that comprise "Team Cedillo", is making news (again) for not only their racially-tinged campaign rhetoric ............, but for their recent "Political Dealings (as reported upon by Mayor Sam in 2015)" in Huntington Park as reported in the LA Times yesterday.

The Huntington Park City Council was faced with a crisis. Its longtime provider of bus service abruptly announced it was getting out of the business two years ago, and the city had 30 days to find a new operator. Without seeking competitive bids, the city contracted with Metro Transit Services. The company hired as its general manager Mario Beltran, a political consultant who worked for a campaign committee that promoted the three new council members (including CURRENT Cedillo "Campaign Consultant" Jhonny Pineda), campaign finance records show. The deal with Metro paid the company a 46% higher rate for the same service the old bus operator provided, according to city records.

Both Beltran and Pineda have been compensated $10,000 dollars-plus for their work with Team Cedillo, along with Convicted Felon Larry "Nativo" Lopez, who has apparently created a new "Swept Off Instead LLC", that specializes in "Voter Registration".

Voting Stakeholders of the Arroyo Seco Neighborhood Council and within the Hermon Enclave, should JUST VOTE NO to the alleged, "Thieving Joe and Wendi Riser's (with supposed CD-14 support)" Scheme to create their self-serving "Mini NC". 

The aspiring "Hermon Mini NC's Emperor Joe and Empress Wendi Riser", with enabling CD-14 City Councilman Jose Huizar.

** Blogger's Notes: In an ideal Council District 14 Ethical Envoronment, alleged, self-serving THIEVES are not rewarded in anyway, especially with their own Mini Neighborhood Council ......, unless you're a Documented Jose Huizar Loyalist (with Community Influence, allegedly).

Yet, that is EXACTLY, what can happen tomorrow (Saturday) as UBER Huizar Loyalists Joe and Wendi Riser (along with Mark Legapsi), are granted their desired dream of having Hermon become a "Mini NC (with Funding)" ............, pending a "YES VOTE" from Arroyo Seco NC (including Hermon) Stakeholders.

The Hermon Breakaway Initiative is the second "Mini NC" to be voted upon in CD-14 this week, with the aspirations of a Skid Row Neighborhood Council being narrowly defeated yesterday and the chances of Hermon avoiding the same fate, is the FOUNDATION for the latest CD-14 Ethical Controversy. 

Its an OPEN SECRET, that Councilman Huizar (with enabling staff) has exercise bias in supporting the efforts of Joe and Wendi Riser (not forgetting Mark Legaspi), to become the Hermon Ruling Troika, but that support may vanish, especially with the OUTING below, of alleged THIEVERY .........., and potential VOTING EXPLOITATION of students from the Los Angeles International Charter High School (LAICHS) ......., in return for "pledges of future funding (allegedly)".

THIEVERY (allegedly): The photos below were taken during an Empower LA/LAPD/Arroyo Seco Neighborhood Council (ASNC) Action to retrieve ASNC Property that "somehow" was taken WITHOUT APPROVAL, relocated to the LAICHS Campus (prompting safety concerns) .......... and relabeled as the "Hermon Emergency Bin" (that lacked proper permitting). According to the LAICHS Website, Joe Riser is a Board Member .......... and allegedly kept information from School Staff regarding the true ownership of the "Bin"; pictured below.

YOUTH VOTER EXPLOITATION: According to sources, the Student Body, Parents, Staff and Board Members of the LAICHS are being pressured to VOTE YES for the Hermon Mini NC, with the promise that the Non-Profit Charter School will receive Public Funding from the NC Budget (as what happen during the LHNC Election in 2009). The FACT that Joe Riser is a current Board Member and VERY LIKELY a future Hermon Mini NC Board Member, is a IRS/Los Angeles County Board of Education/District Attorney/Ethics Commission Investigation, waiting to happen ....... especially if this ethically-challenged SCHEME is successful----Scott Johnson

Judging from the opening paragraph of your minute, post-election analysis, you present a PREMISE that the 10% of Register Voters who cared to exercise their Constitutional Rights, based their Candidate Selection on choosing between siding with "Berniecrat Progressiveism" or "Clintonesque Governess" as excerpted below ...........

Whoa, what just happened to the progressive Democrat movement in Los Angeles? Voters in the 34th Congressional District not only rejected the Berniecrats in the special election to replace Xavier Becerra on Tuesday, they veered decidedly Clintonesque.

.........., well, not exactly.

Being respectful, and cognizant of the FACT of your former San Fernando Valley-centric "Scope of Work" with the LA Daily News, we gladly contribute our endemic knowledge of the 34th Congressional District Political Topography, in extrapolating on the, REAL root causes for Tuesday's non-certified results.

First, a 28% Vote Tally for Assemblyman Jimmy Gomez is not a "Clintonesque Governess Mandate". The Riverside Native's support is simply from those who continue to support a Democratic Establishment that answers to whoever is anointed its Candidates, and dispenses with the Patronage.

Second, the successful support for Korean Candidate Robert Lee Ahn, was NOT rooted in his supposed, "Clintonesque, Moderate Policies Positions". The REALITY for Candidate Ahn's making the June Congressional Runoff, is the byproduct of a SLIGHTED, Korean-American Community Push Back, against the controversial 2012 City of Los Angeles Redistricting Process, that "cut and sliced" Koreatown into multiple Council Districts, by those in the same Democratic Establishment supporting Assemblyman Jimmy Gomez.

Third, the DELIBERATE, non-unification of the Progressive Grass Roots. The prospects of Bernienista Candidates such as Auturo Carmona, Wendy Carrillo, and Kenneth Mejia in making the June Runoff, were not helped by their respective, voter-diluting Campaigns and via the ENDORSEMENT of the Assemblyman Gomez Campaign by prominent Northeast Progressive Leader Luis Lopez ............, who ANNOUNCED his intentions yesterday (again), to seek a POSSIBLE, vacated 51st Assembly District Seat, come June.

Fourth, the REPUDIATION of the Clintonnesque Machine-like Governess of CD-14 City Councilman Jose Huizar. Female Candidates Sara Hernandez and Wendy Carrillo were the latest to FAIL in using the supposed CD-14 City Councilman Jose Huizar Political Brand, in seeking Political Office. Wonder why?

Fifth, former "Maxim Model", turned former President Barack "H" Obama Official and LA Times Editor, do not make successful Congressional Candidates. Enough said.

With a DISMAL Turnout for today's 34th Congressional District Special Election, the early Absentee (and likely majority of the) Ballots has Robert Lee Ahn leading Assemlyman Jimmy Gomez by a 27.9% to 26.2% ..........., with Republican William Rodriguez Morrison, a DISTANT Third with 5.5% of the Vote.

** Blogger's Notes: For a Bleepin Moment, the former Renowned Assembly Speaker John Perez, was the apparent "First Cousin of Tony V. Congressman-designated (by the Democratic Establishment)", to replace, NOW California Attorney General Xavier Becerra ........, BUT, an undisclosed "Illness" forced an IMMEDIATE extraction from what has become a 24 Candidates Ballot. That stated, the Democratic Establishment "Politico" Website last Friday posted a "34th CD Special Election Q & A" with the former Assembly Speaker, seeking his insight on today's election which we excerpt below----Scott Johnson.

First Cousin of Tony Villar (now Govea)'s preferred Candidate: You’ve got folks like Jimmy Gomez, who’s got legislative experience and clearly has the lion’s share of elected official support and some of the mainstream, traditional labor organizations and other support, I think, could hit the ground running. I think you’ve got candidates like Wendy Carrillo, who comes with an absolute passion that’s palpable, but a very outside view of the world. I think she brings a lot of very interesting things to the table. And then you’ve got candidates like [Alejandra] Campoverdi, who has experience having worked in the White House, has great experience in terms of working both in the media and with the media.

First Cousin John's Prediction: Well, I think Jimmy Gomez comes in first place, makes the runoff. And the question is with whom. And so I think he’s significantly ahead of the pack, and then there’s a cluster of people – Campoverdi, Carrillo, [Arturo], [Maria] Cabildo, Carmona, [Robert Lee] Ahn – that are all clustered closely enough … that any one of them could be the other candidate in the runoff.

First Cousin John's Thoughts on former Huizar Staffer Sara Hernandez chances of DEFEATING Assemblyman Jimmy Gomez in a June Runoff: She’s another candidate that’s in that top tier. I think if I’m Jimmy Gomez, she’s the one I’m least concerned about because, one, she’s as insider as he is, so the insider-outsider fight doesn’t present itself in the same way. But between the lion’s share of the support coming from developers and her association with certain folks in a different ideological bandwidth of the education movement, I think she actually is the one candidate that makes Jimmy look like the left alternative of the options. And so, what you have is, if you look at Sara Hernandez, Wendy Carrillo, Alejandra Campoverdi as three potential women to make the runoff, Sara would be easy for Jimmy’s campaign to cast as being more conservative than he is.
